Stains on Log Homes
When viewing these photos, keep in mind that sun exposure damages finishes and stains. In the northern hemisphere, he worst damage occurs on walls facing south and the least damage occurs on north facing walls. Walls facing east and west, incur damage somewhere in between.

The log home below was completed in 1995 and stained with
Sikkens (a Scandinavian product developed for log homes). The product directions recommended three brushed coats but this close to the end of the job the wallet was getting thin - two sprayed coats were applied. In 2004, the home was powered washed and three brushed coats of Sikkens applied by
Paint by Joe, Inc. The two photos were taken a year later. |
